A WORLD famous brass band is set to delight audiences with a spectacular performance.

The Besses Boy's Band will perform a free summer concert alongside the Encore Youth Choir at the Longfield Suite, Prestwich, on July 21.

Showcasing some of the best of Bury's musical talent, the concert is sure to be a fantastic afternoon of family entertainment.

Besses Boys’ Band chairman, Bradley Hirst, said: “We are all looking forward to providing an afternoon of wonderful entertainment and encourage people from across the borough to venture out and enjoy the event.”

The historic brass band formed in Whitefield in 1953 as a feeder to the Besses o' th' Barn Band.

It quickly rose to become one of the nations best and the longest surviving youth brass band. And, maintaining their illustrious success, the band have recently qualified to compete at the National Brass Band Championship of Great Britain.

They will be joined at the concert by the Encore Youth Choir which was formed after the Manchester Arena tragedy where a founder member Olivia Campbell-Hardy lost her life.

The majority of its members hail from Bury, and choir leader Katie Geelan is a committed and lifelong music lover who graduated from the University of Manchester several years ago.

Entry to the concert is free and there is no need to book.

Doors open at 1.30pm and the concert will commence 2pm.
