PLANS to open a beauty salon at the site of a former sweet shop have been revealed.
The ground floor of the property in Hughes Street could be used as a beauty salon if the proposal is given the go ahead.
Another application for an extension to the adjoining residential home in Smithills has also been submitted.
If approved, an existing single-storey garage on the side of the property would be knocked down and a 2.5-storey dwelling would be built in its place.
Planning applications relating to the changes have been prepared by Warrington-based Goldcrest Design Services.
It said: "The development has taken into consideration the size and location of adjacent properties in the size and location of the proposed development."
The building is located in a predominantly residential area, on the corner of Hughes Street and Cloister Street.
Town hall officers are due to decide the outcome of each of the applications by September.
