A PENSIONER has been seriously injured in a crash in Greenmount.

Emergency service vehicles were called to the crash, involving two cars, in Holhouse Lane at about 5.35pm on Monday.

The road was closed between Brandlesholme Road and Bolton Road West while police, firefighters and paramedics dealt with the incident.

Fire crews had to cut three people from their vehicles.

Among them was a female in her 70s, who had suffered serious injuries. She was taken to hospital, along with two other people.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a collision in Holhouse Lane at about 5.35pm.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle and three ambulances. We treated three patients, two female and one male.

"All three were taken to hospital. A female in her 70s suffered what looks like serious injuries."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at about 5.35pm to a crash on Holhouse Lane involving two vehicles.

"Two fire engines attended, as well as a technical rescue unit from Ashton.

"Firefighters released three casulties and were in attendance for two hours."

The road reopened at about 9.30pm.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
