Former Oldham captain Peter Clarke has signed for League One Fleetwood.
The 37-year-old, released by Latics at the end of 2018-19 campaign after three years with the club, has been training with Joey Barton’s side throughout pre-season.
Clarke is the veteran of more than 700 career appearances having also played for Huddersfield, Blackpool, Southend and Bury.
“Peter initially came in to train and stay fit over the summer, but the influence he’s had on the dressing room and the attitude he’s shown has been first class,” said Barton.
“His career speaks for itself, and we hope that he can bring his experiences throughout his career into our squad for the upcoming season.
“He’s impressed in our pre-season matches and we look forward to seeing him making an impact on the field for us.”
On the incoming front, Latics have signed 18-year-old midfielder Callum Dolan, the former Manchester United academy player having most recently been with Altrincham in the National League North.
He scored against Oldham for Ashton United this pre-season and before playing for his new club against Stockport County.
