WANDERERS (4-4-1-1)

REMI MATTHEWS… 6.5

A rush of blood for the first goal, no doubt, but he made up for the error with some great saves – three of which prevented Pattison from getting a goal his performance probably deserved.

HARRY BROCKBANK… 8

Calm and composed. Rewarded with a two-year deal after training without pay all summer. One of our own - and deserves plenty of credit.

YOANN ZOUMA… 8.5

Was shattered by the end, but lapped up every ounce of the fans’ attention with a commanding display at the back. Quick, powerful, looks like he has a future.

LIAM EDWARDS… 7.5

Had to take the hit marking the ultra-physical Akinfenwa but let nobody down at all, making some important contributions.

JOSH EARL… N/A

Unlucky to be forced off with an ankle injury so early. Hopefully he will be back up and running quickly.

DENNIS POLITIC… 8

Showed some real touches of class and definitely has the confidence to make an impact in the senior game. Would be a great story to see him push on and command a regular place.

JASON LOWE… 8

His experience was vital on the day – and it will be for the rest of the season, too. Compact in possession and ran himself to a standstill.

LUKE MURPHY… 6

Worked hard for the cause but his use of the ball had to be better. Showed the signs of a difficult summer more than anyone else.

JAMES WEIR… 7

Took a while to get up to speed in the game and missed a good chance to play-in Oztumer in the first half. Some encouraging signs after that.

ERHUN OZTUMER… 6.5

Didn’t get many chances to influence the game, which was a shame, but if things settle it would be great to think a side could be built around his creativity.

EDDIE BROWN… 6.5

Worked so hard to track down defenders but didn’t get a sniff of goal. Didn’t get much change out of El-Abd or Stewart but a day he won’t forget.

Subs: White 7, 14 (for Earl) – The 17-year-old has been with the club for a decade. It was harsh on Earl to pick up an injury early on, but what a story for Whites to get a league debut.

Darcy 6, 70 (for Oztumer) – One to watch. Has the tools to be a real player.

King-Harmes 77 (for Zouma) – Replaced the tiring Zouma and had to put up with some intense pressure later on.

Not used: Alnwick, Boon, Senior, Graham.

Wycombe (4-4-2): Allsopp; Grimmer, El-Abd, Stewart, Jacobson; Gape, Bloomfield, Pattison, Smyth; Akinfenwa, Samuel.

Subs: Wheeler 62 (for Samuel), Onyedimna 69 (for Smyth), Freeman 79 (for Bloomfield) Not used: Kashket, Yates, Phillips, Parker.
