NEW houses that were set to be "crammed" into back gardens and other plots of land across the borough will not be going ahead.
None of the plans, described as "garden grabbing", at the three sites previously reported by The Bolton News have been granted permission.
One proposal, for a two-storey three-bedroom detached house in someone's front garden in Lostock, was thrown out by town hall planners.
The proposed dwelling in Glengarth Drive, which would have been located next to a bungalow, but permission was refused.
Council officers said the building would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the area and impact on the privacy and living conditions of neighbouring residents at Bryantsfield.
Plans for another two-storey house which was set to be built in a back garden in Westhoughton's Broad Walk has been withdrawn by the applicant.
A five-bedroom house which could have been built on an overgrown plot of land at Horeb Street has suffered the same fate.
