AN INSPIRATIONAL young beauty queen is hoping to spread an empowering message after reaching the finals of a prestigious national competition.

Paige Uprichard, who has already been crowned Miss Teen Bury 2019, is now seeking to clinch the crown in the Miss Teen Great Britain contest.

The fifteen-year-old is one of only a handful of girls still in the running for the illustrious title and will take part in a Grand Finals weekend in October.

Her incredible achievements are made all the more inspiring as Paige has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

She said: "I can't believe I have got to the finals, it's the biggest and best achievement.

"I am determined to help change the stigma attached to ADHD that I have lived with for many years, and prove you can be what you want to be no matter how negative people can be."

Paige's condition makes it difficult for her to remain in mainstream education, and meant she had been outside formal high school for around two and half years, significantly knocking her confidence.

However she is now pursuing her dreams to become a model or actor and studies at Craig Ormerod Associates.

She also attends classes at the Carol Godby Theatre Workshop at The Rock, and volunteers at the drama school and helps to teach the younger children.

Over the past two months Paige has been undertaking lots of charity work, including working with Asda Pilsworth's community champion Jill Brady.

She has also volunteered to provide meals to the homeless and at a luncheon club for over 50s.

In the run-up to the Miss Teen Great Britain finals, Paige is set to host an big charity event at Woodbank Cricket Club on October 4.

The event will include music, raffles, tombolas, sweet stalls and more, and all proceeds raised will go to Together for Short Lives, Buddies for Children with Autism and another Bury charity.

Ahead of the event she is appealing for businesses and other organisations to sponsor her or donate raffle prizes.
