A HIGH achieving student is celebrating after securing a place at her first choice university.
Phoebe McEwen, aged 20, has bagged three A* grades in English language, French and history.
The Bury College pupil said: “I am really excited and really proud to received these results. I was there waiting for them to come through at 6.30am and kept refreshing the page. I could not believe it.”
Phoebe, who lives in Little Lever, Bolton, has secured a place at Lancaster University to read French Studies and German Studies, with the view to pursue a career in literary translation.
“I like exploring different cultures”, the former Bury Church of England High School pupil said. “I see languages as a bit of a puzzle."
She added: "I don't think enough people are taking languages today so I think we should be encouraging this."
