TREASURY minister Simon Clarke has stressed the importance of new education centres and the job opportunities they create to spreading success across the UK after his visit to Bolton last week.

The Exchequer Secretary Horwich-based apprenticeship provider Alliance Learning, on his trip to the town to discussed the employment prospects apprenticeships provide.

He met Alliance Learning’s chief executive Kelly Perkin and trainees to explore how on the job training equips people for the workplace.

Mr Clarke, who also went to Farnworth High Street, was accompanied by Bolton West Conservative MP Chris Green on his visit which included looking at the site of the £30million Bolton College of Medical Sciences.

Mr Clarke said: “The Prime Minister was clear that we want to see success spread across not just our big cities but our towns and rural areas. IT is our priority to support regional growth and prosperity to maximise the potential of places like Bolton as we leave the EU."

Mr Green said: “I’m delighted the government is investing in a new medical college in Bolton."
