FORMER Rochdale Labour councillor Alan McCarthy has been announced as the Brexit Party's prospective parliamentary candidate for marginal Bury North.
The fork-lift truck ldriver from Heap Bridge switched to Nigel Farage's new anti-EU grouping in July.
At the next General Election he will take on Labour MP James Frith who took the seat from the Conservatives in 2017 by 4,475 votes.
Cllr McCarthy said: “I defected to the Brexit Party when the Labour Party went back on its manifesto pledge to respect the referendum result."
