A COURAGEOUS mum who received life-saving treatment for cancer and took part in this year's Race for Life, has thanked people for returning their sponsorship cash.
Rachel Cummings, 39, from Darwen, was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma – a type of skin cancer – in August 2017.
But she has since had successful treatment and scans show no cancer remains although she has regular check-ups.
Her cancer battle saw her take part in Blackburn's Race for Life at Witton Park in June with her 11-year-old daughter Daisy.
She is now thanking participants who have helped smash a £32,600 fundraising target to raise £36,673 for Cancer Research UK so far.
She said: “Our experience means we understand all too clearly why Cancer Research UK’s work is so important and we would love to say a big thank you to everyone from Blackburn for returning their sponsorship money so quickly.”
