BOLTON MP Sir David Crausby has called on the government to boost the amount of Whitehall cash for 16 to 18 education.
He has told ministers they must increase the amount Sixth Form Colleges receive for each student to reverse the decline in languages, engineering and science.
The extra money would also support careers advice, skills training, and mental health support.
Sir David, Labour MP for Bolton North-East, said: “For many students Sixth Form is their entry into the workforce or university. A little extra help to develop their personal skills in addition to A-level classes can really make a difference. We also need to maintain a wide variety of subjects in sixth forms. "
