BEER enthusiasts descended on Radcliffe Cricket Club as an annual celebration returned for 2019.

Happy revellers praised the two-day beer festival, which is now in its 15th year, describing the event as "a top night".

The beers, ales and gins were flowing on Friday and Saturday night as dozens of people turned out to the clubhouse at the Homer Street ground.

Carl Slater, a committee member, said: "This year's beer festival at Radcliffe Cricket Club was a roaring success.

"The new committee had some great ideas and raised the bar this year, giving our supporters a weekend to remember.

"And we do it all so that the local children can come down to enjoy playing cricket in the summer.

"There is a lot of history in this club going back to 1855, and our aim is to get this club thriving again.

"The 1st team have just been promoted so this will be a great place to come and watch cricket next year, as we have big plans."

Radcliffe's Brightside Brewing Company once again provided their beers for the occasion.

More than 50 varieties of gin were provided by Bee-ginning, with a range of mixers, while food was served by Bury-based Curry in a Hurry.

One attendee described the event as a "top night".

Another posted on social media: "What a lovely way to spend a Saturday evening."

A backdrop of live music was provided by Krisshan Jade, Cash Wallwork, Room D, StringBox, The Replays and Rock of Ages.

Funds raised during the event will go towards the running and upkeep of the club and its ground, including equipment and maintenance.

The club has invited residents to save the date for its annual firework display on November 2, which promises a light show to music, as well as a funfair, food stalls and more. Gates open at 6pm, with the display beginning at 8pm.

Mr Slater said: "Don't miss that one, it will be a cracker."

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £1 for children.
