Train loads of fun

Make sure you do not miss out on a train load of fun as the East Lancashire Railway hosts its last Steam Gala of the year.

The heritage attraction’s fantastic home fleet will be joined by an impressive array of special guest locomotive for a three day all steam spectacular.

Among the attending engines will be the Pacific A4 No. 60009 “Union of South Africa”, which was built in 1937, and the SR No. 926 “Repton”, making its first ELR appearance courtesy of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Visitors will also be able to ride on a vintage 1920s Observation Saloon.

The gala runs on October 18, 19 and 20. For more visit the ELR website.

People of all ages will be able to get to the core of great activities including apple pressing and a peeling competition as well as beek keeping and wax candle making, plus stalls selling homemade produce and more.

The Incredible Edible event runs from 1pm to 4pm on October 20.
