AN inspirational Bolton tutor has been named one of the most outstanding new teachers in the UK.

Connor Goulding, from Sacred Heart RC Primary in Westhoughton, was presented with a Gold Award in the Outstanding New Teacher category at the Pearson National Teaching Awards.

The teacher was recognised as an exceptionally able teacher who meticulously researches best practice to make sure his teaching is consistently excellent, organisers said.

Outside of his teaching duties, Connor has excelled as the school’s computing lead, creating a robot zoo, coding and building an award-winning marble run linked to the town’s history, and training more experienced staff on the best ways of integrating technology into their teaching.

He was presented with his trophy at the ceremony at the Roundhouse in Camden tonight.

The ceremony will be broadcast on BBC2 on October 26 as “Britain’s Classroom Heroes”, starring hosts Sean Fletcher, a regular sports presenter on Good Morning Britain and Countryfile presenter, and Tina Daheley, a newsreader on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show and a regular presenter on Newsbeat.
