MAGISTRATES have sentenced a teenage boy to a conditional discharge for six months after he pleaded guilty to interfering with a transit van on September 29. The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge.
A TEENAGER who assaulted a police officer has been ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work by Manchester magistrates. Rhys Long, aged 18, of Heywood Road, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on September 14. He was also ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities, pay his victim £50 in compensation and £175 towards prosecution costs and charges.
A WASHING powder thief has been ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities by Manchester magistrates. Anthony Harris, aged 30, of Trencherbone, Radcliffe, admitted stealing four bottles of Persil washing liquid from Pouundstretcher in Bury on August 22, a box of Bold washing powder the following day and two boxes of Surf washing powder on August 29 and a further four bottles of Surf washing liquid on August 30. Harris was fined £50 and was ordered to pay the store £84.91 in compensation plus £85 towards prosecution costs.
A PRIVATE hire taxi driver has been fined for illegally plying for hire in Deansgate, Manchester on November 4 last year and having no insurance. Ihsan Elahi, aged 37, of Downham Crescent, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to committing the offences in his Mercedes Benz when he appeared before Manchester magistrates. He was fined
