A BURGLAR who targeted a Bury primary school has been jailed for 26 weeks. Manchester magistrates heard how Adam Ellis, aged 33, of Kestrel Drive, Bury, stole two projectors, worth £2,118 from St Paul’s C of E Primary School on July 20. He pleaded guilty to committing the offence and was also ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge.

A MAN who twice failed to tell police who the driver of a Ford Fiesta was has been banned from holiday a licence for six months. The case against Giovanni Oliviero, aged 31, of Ramsey Grove, Bury, was proved at Manchester Magistrates’ Court. Magistrates heard how Oliviero failed to identify the driver on June 19 and September 8 last year. He was fined a total of £990, ordered to pay £170 towards prosecution costs and a £66 victim surcharge.

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 12 weeks after he repeatedly breached a restraining order. Anthony Preston, aged 61, was banned from going to a property in Chelsea Avenue, Bury, but ignored the order on October 18, 19 and 25. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court he pleaded guilty to committing the offences. He was also ordered to pay his victim £100 in compensation.

A MAN who illegally used a disabled person’s blue badge has been fined £100 by Manchester magistrates. Andrew Brooks, aged 37, of Winchester Close, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence in Manchester on February 22. He was also ordered to pay £227 towards prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

A MAN who attacked a boy has been sentenced to do 200 hours of unpaid work by Manchester Magistrates. Alan Holt, aged 64, of Five Quarters, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to causing the boy actual bodily harm on March 23. In addition Holt was ordered to pay his victim £200 in compensation, participate in 15 days or rehabilitation activities and pay £85 towards prosecution costs. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting the victim.

A THIEF who burgled Jungle Mayhem in Bury on May 31 has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison by Manchester magistrates. Andrew Monck, aged 33, of no fixed address, denied entering the property intending to steal but was convicted following a trial. He was also ordered to pay the business £350 in compensation.

A WOMAN committed fraud by submitting Right to Buy Scheme application for a property in Manchester using the name of someone who had left the UK. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Tuyet Anh Alexander, aged 51, of Bolton Road West, Ramsbottom, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on February 24, 2017. She was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and must undertake 150 hours of unpaid work as well as 16 days of rehabilitation activities. She was also ordered to pay £1,000 towards prosecution costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
