The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as rain is set to batter areas of the North West this week.

The statement warns that prolonged rain on Thursday or Friday could cause flooding in some areas, with risks to buildings, communities and travel services.

Fast flowing or deep floodwater could cause a possible danger to life.

Bury and eastern parts of Greater Manchester are at the most risk, while areas such as Bolton are still set to receive a downpour.

Advice has been issued to take extra care while travelling in heavy rain, wind and thunderstorms.

Those at risk of flood damage should consider making their property more resilient to damage. This could include moving sockets further up the walls and laying tiles instead of carpets.
