MULTI-million pound plans to transform a key gateway site into the town centre have been submitted to Bolton Council.

Following two public consultation events, Beechlane Investments has submitted its plans for the Trinity Gateway project which includes a 20-storey residential tower of 144 apartments, 30,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, a 505-space multi-storey car park and a major area of public open space.

The Trinity Gateway project is one of five ‘intervention areas’ in Bolton Council’s £1.5billion masterplan.

Beechlane Investments Ltd is behind the development and is working on a number of key developments in the town.

The development, which will be located on the corner of Bradshawgate and Trinity Street is intended to kickstart the regeneration of this part of the town centre and will deliver a range of employment and training opportunities which will benefit local people.

Discussions are already underway with a local construction company to build the scheme and clauses requiring they use local labour and engage with the local community and schools, will be included in the construction contract.

Alec Colbeck, development director at Beechlane Investments, said: “We would like to thank all of the people who came along to visit the recent public consultation events to share their views on our plans.

“We received an overwhelmingly positive response from the public and in making this application we are signalling our commitment to both the project and the town.

“These are tremendously exciting times for Bolton and we are very pleased to be playing a part in shaping its new, brighter future.”

Gillian Worden, Associate at P4 Planning said: “This is an exciting time for Bolton.

“Plans for Trinity Gateway, which is in a prominent, town centre location, are in line with the wider aspirations for the town and if approved will completely transform this brownfield site.

“It is a huge investment into the local economy, will create new homes and act as a catalyst for further regeneration in the town.

“We are looking forward to a positive outcome so that the scheme can come forward as soon as possible.”

The plans should be ready to view on the council’s website - www.bolton.gov.uk - in the near future.

Councillors will rule on the development.
