LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn has blased the government in the wake of the devestating fire that ripped through a Bolton student block.

Dozens of fire crews battled the blaze at The Cube, in Bradshawgate, last night.

Operations to damp down the fire ravaged building are on going and Bradshawgate remains closed this morning.

Images of the fire spreading across the cladding on the building have gone around the world.

Now, Jeremey Corybn has waded in blaming the Government's 'shameful' inaction since Grenfell.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "Thank you to the 40 fire crews who tackled the #BoltonFire and the emergency services who treated people at the student accommodation.

"If reports are correct and flammable cladding contributed to the fire, it shows the government's shameful inaction since Grenfell."

At its height, around 200 firefighters were tackling the blaze, with 40 fire engines, three aerial platforms and other specialist appliances being used.

Residents of The Cube are being asked to go to Orlando Village student accommodation and contact their loved ones to let them know they are safe.

Following the Grenfell tragedy, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have implemented a high rise policy which was put into action last night.

Fire crews are now waiting for reassurance about the building's safety and stability from a building inspector.
