BURY FC fans have contributed to a new pop-up exhibition which will celebrate 134 years of the club's history.
Fan Zoë Hitchen is hosting We Are Bury over two days as part of Design Manchester's annual festival, DM19.
Following Bury’s expulsion from the English Football League in August Zoë has collated club artefacts with help from Bury Art Museum and the fans themselves, to ensure the people behind Bury FC's history are never forgotten.
She said: "I'm putting on this exhibition because I can't stand and watch an injustice from the sidelines. I have just witnessed 134 years of cultural history be brought to a grinding halt."
We Are Bury is composed of three parts: kick off, half time and full time, and focuses on the role of football in helping people to belong.
The first section will look at what has happened at the football club, raising questions about football governance and fan emails to the EFL. Half time will delve into the celebratory element of the club, including its role in connecting fans and being part of the football family. Lastly, full time will give visitors an insight into the role of football in the community. This interactive section will allow people of all ages to create their own memorabilia and sit in an installation of The Stanley Club while posting hopes for the future.
Zoë said: “I want to celebrate the fact that Bury fans want to rebuild and create a club for the fans, by the fans. It's ultimately about people power and a real opportunity to pull the community together."
The exhibition is open on Saturday and Sunday between 11am-6pm at Arch 7, Temperance Street, Mayfield, Manchester.
