STAFF at Bury's Tesco store have donated kitchen utensils to students affected by a major fire at The Cube in Bolton.

A total of £200 worth of items, including wooden spoons and saucepans, were handed over to individuals who are coordinating the support.

The blaze broke at the six-storey student accommodation block on Friday, November 15. At its height, about 200 firefighters were responding to the incident.

Tesco Bury community champion Wendy Howarth was in contact with the students the day after the fire happened and really wanted to help them.

She said: "The students asked for donations for their kitchens because they have lost absolutely everything.

"Students are still looking for accommodation and still need as many donations as they can get."

Adam Johnson, Student Engagement officer at the University of Bolton, and Jess Ratiffe, Academic Engagement Coordinator at Bolton Students' Union, collected the donations from store today.
