An elderly woman was taken to hospital last night after overturning her car on the M66.
Fire crews and ambulances raced to the scene at around 21:30 to find the car overturned near the slip road on Junction 3.
Crews had initially believed two people to be trapped but found the woman sat by the side of the road when they arrived.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We helped the woman to an ambulance while one pump stayed at the scene for around an hour.
"She was on her own and we think she dug the front end of the car into the grass after misjudging the time she had.
She was then taken to hospital with cuts and bruises. She was also shook up."
