FIRE crews were called to an incident at a venue in Bury town centre.
Three fire engines from Blackley, Broughton and Heywood turned out to a commercial premises in Silver Street.
Fire crews cordoned off a section of the road while they responded to the incident at about 10.5am on Monday.
They used a hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation fan and two breathing apparatus to assist with clearing smoke from the premises.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: "Three fire engines were mobilised to a commercial premises in Silver Street, Bury.
"However the building was not on fire."
Fire crews remained at the scene for about 45 minutes.
