PARLIAMENTARY candidates running in the borough's two constituencies are to debate their policies and answer questions on climate change and the environment at a public hustings.

The event has been organised and will be hosted by Bury Youth Climate Strikers.

It will take place in the Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall from 7pm to 9pm on December 2.

Candidates confirmed to be taking part are Labour's Lucy Burke (Bury South), Liberal Democrats' Gareth Lloyd-Johnson (Bury North), The Green Party's Glyn Heath (Bury South) and independent Ivan Lewis (Bury South).

Neither the Conservative nor Women's Equality Party have as yet confirmed whether their candidates will attend, and The Brexit Party have declined to take part.

Yesterday there were concerns that the event may not be able to go ahead in its proposed format, with organisers fearing they may have relocate the hustings at the last minute or even cancel.

However all issues have now been resolved and the event will be taking place as planned.
