TWO volunteers braved the Bolton cold to raise awareness for World Aids Day.

Lee Houghton who works in public health for the council and Darren Knight, who works for Bolton CVS, handed out leaflets and ribbons to help push awareness of the disease and what can be done to tackle it.

Darren said: "We just want to raise awareness so we got together, got some leaflets printed and set out to connect with local people.

"We want to get people wearing the red ribbons and shine a light on World Aids Day."

This is the second year that leaflets and ribbons have been handed out, with the pair giving over 100 out in their session .

World Aids Day was founded in 1988 and takes place on December 1 each year.

It provides an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV and to show support for those living with it.
