TEMPERATURES are set to rise slowly this coming week after a very cold weekend.

Temperatures hovered around 3C, with lows of -2.5C in some areas during the nights and early mornings.

The Met Office said today (Monday),temperatures are set to stay above freezing.

Tuesday onwards, cloud will set in and keep the mercury above 5C which will keep frost and ice at bay.

By Friday, temperatures are set to reach 10C however,chances of rain increase and the weather will turn bleaker.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Much of England and Wales settled at first with areas of fog developing which will locally persist for much of the day on Wednesday and Thursday.

"Some bright or sunny spells are possible,particularly around coasts.

"Further northwest, increasingly unsettled conditions are expected to develop during Wednesday

with wet and windy weather transferring slowly southeast through Thursday and Friday."
