1. Bolton Wanderers vs AFC Wimbledon

The Bolton News:

Head down to the University of Bolton Stadium this Saturday to catch Whites in action against AFC Wimbledon.

Bolton have won three of their past four league matches, although the latest was a 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Accrington.

Wanderers’ relegation rivals AFC Wimbledon have won just one of their last four games and did not secure a league win until their twelfth match.

2. Bolton Winter Festival

THE Bolton Winter Festival is finally opening this weekend for a month of family fun and entertainment.

The ice rink will be open for business, along with the Teepee café bar and a new festive family zone in Crompton Place Shopping Centre.

This will include the new home for Santa’s Grotto and other entertainment including arcade games, air hockey and table tennis.

The winter wonderland will welcome its first visitors this Saturday, December 7 and will be open every day until Sunday, January 5 ­—except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

This weekend will kick off with an appearance from some reindeers, with donkeys appearing the weekend after.

3. New Lego building club

A NEW weekly free family event is starting at Breightmet Library this Thursday.

The Lego brick building club will give crafty youngsters the chance to develop new Lego skills.

The event will be held between 4pm and 5pm for 6-11 year olds and their carer. Beginners and newcomers are welcome.

4. Over 60s Ladies Night

WESTHOUGHTON Library and Bolton College is asking women over 60 to come down to a night of pampering and refreshments this Tuesday.

The event on December 3 is between 5pm and 7pm.

The night of relaxation will include facials and hand massages. Refreshments are provided.

Call into Westhoughton Library for more information and to collect a free ticket.

5. Harwood writers' group

HARWOOD writers group are encouraging budding writers to come down to their group to nurture and develop their talents.

The meeting is on Tuesday, December 3 between 1.15pm and 3pm.

The event is free and is for anybody 16 and over. No booking is needed and you can just turn up at Harwood Library where it is being held.

The weekly sessions welcome all newcomers and hope to help them discover a hidden talent for writing.

The group writes in a range of styles ­— from poetry to prose ­— and all sessions are informal with no obligation to read your work.
