POLICE are warning people to be on their guard if using a notorious walkway after two assaults within minutes of each other.

Two people were hit in the face on the towpath route known as Banana Walk, known locally as the banana path, on Saturday between 5pm and 5.30pm.

Radcliffe Neighbourhood Police Team say both the victims were approached 10 minutes apart by a man who hit both "for no reason".

The victims managed to run away and did not sustain any serious injuries.

The offender is described as white, of slim build between 5ft7 to 5ft 10 between 20 and 25-years-old. He was wearing a bubble type jacket, light blue bottoms and a hooded top.
