Police are investigating after shots were fired close to the border of Prestwich.

At around 8.45pm on Saturday, December 28, police were called to reports of a shooting on Huntley Road, Crumpsall.

Officers attended and found shots had been fired towards the door of a property.

There were two people in the property at the time, though no one was injured.

A cordon is currently in place whilst investigation work is carried out and no arrests have been made.

Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Jen Tattersall, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “Firearms have no place in Greater Manchester so we treat incidents like this very seriously.

“We have launched an investigation and there are a number of officers in the area, so people who live there may notice the increased police patrols. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to these officers who are here to provide reassurance and talk to local residents.

“We do believe this was a targeted attack, so I would also like to reassure those residents that we do not believe that they are at risk.

“We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who saw any vehicles in the area at the time. I would urge anyone who has any information, which may assist officers, to get in touch.”
