A TOP doctor at Bolton CCG is reminding people that not everyone feels festive over Christmas and New Year.

Dr Wirin Bhatiani posted an article on the group's website urging people to reach out for support if they need it.

He writes: "TV adverts at this time of year are full of happy families, neighbours looking out for each other and community cheer.

"Poor mental health can be exacerbated with the pressures and expectations of the festive period. So while it can be an exciting and happy time, it can also be challenging for those dealing with grief, sadness, and financial pressure.

"Looking after our mental health – and that of others – is just as important as looking after our physical health. The two go hand in hand."

As the festivities end and we all head back to work and school, remember that not everyone will have experienced a joyous Christmas and be prepared to reach out to those who are struggling.
