GALE force winds are set to blast Bury on Thursday
The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning for "very strong winds" starting on Thursday morning which could bring disruption to the region.
Gusts of up 70mph could hit some places, while winds of between 50 and 60mph are possible in many areas.
The forecaster has warned that there is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris.
Journey times may also be longer as a result of the winds, and road, rail, air and ferry services may be cancelled or affected as roads and bridges could be forced to close.
The Met Office added that there is a slight chance of damage to buildings, power cuts and other service being affected — such as mobile phone coverage.
Winds are predicted to ease across the North West by Thursday evening.
