BURY is home to a thriving night life and entertainment scene drawing in thousands of music lovers, revellers and partygoers every weekend.

But, keen to bring something new to the borough’s eclectic offering, a new town centre bar has opened hoping to provide something unique, specifically aimed at the over 30s.

Kavern opened its doors at The Rock last month and has been masterminded by a team of three partners — David Lapworth, Benny Heron from Whitefield, and Wayne Craig from Bury.

The trio were inspired to open the venue as they felt there was a lack of regular, good quality nightlife and entertainment for the ‘older crowd’.

David said: “There’s not many places that cater for people who are over 30. So we saw that there’s a massive gap in the market for people of that age who want to go out but have nowhere to go because everywhere is designed for younger people.

“Kavern is an environment with a nice relaxing atmosphere, good live music, DJs, comedians and entertainment, and great drinks designed for that crowd.

“It is a project that we are really excited to bring to Bury.”

Throughout the year Kavern will be hosting gigs from bands and DJs from across the Bury and North West scene as well as comedy nights, featuring well known and up and coming comedians, cinema clubs and more.

It also boasts what David claims is Bury’s only specialist indoor karaoke booth which will host regular nights and can also be hired out by groups.

Other entertainment options for parties will include a function room, wine tasting experiences and cocktail making.

David said: “We want this place to become somewhere that is supporting really good up and coming live bands and a destination for comedians, where people can have a relaxing time."

Good drinks are also top of the agenda at Kavern which specialises in cocktails, as well as serving a range of beers, spirits and wines.

Cocktails can be made to request in addition to a list of classic cocktails and seasonal specials which will change through out the year.

Kavern also has plans to offer food plus real ales and craft beer on cask and keg later in the year.

To mark the bar’s opening a grand launch party is set to take place featuring a night of live entertainment and music.

Performing at the event will be band Design Rewind, an as yet unconfirmed guest star comedian, plus much more.

The party will take place from 7pm on February 1 and all money raised by the event’s tickets sales will go to the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity (SuperJosh).

Tickets are available via Kavern’s Facebook and Instagram pages as well as from the bar and directly from SuperJosh.
