Stock has been destroyed after a fire at Travis Perkins.

Fire crews were called to the Bolton branch of the builder's merchant at the corner of Bark Street and Chorley Street at 7.30pm on Sunday, January 12.

Four pumps worked to bring the flames under control, with crews on scene for an hour and a half.

The fire is believed to have started by a stacker truck, used for transporting pallets.

Responding crews from Bolton Central fire station said the truck has been completely destroyed, as has a "quantity" of stock nearby including plaster boards.

Nathan, who lives opposite the site, called 999 to report the fire.

He said: "I couldn’t really see too much, started off with a bit of an orange glow coming from the building and could see the smoke so thought it was best to call it in just in case.

"There ended up being about five or six fire engines and probably the same amount of police cars.

"I was really impressed with the response time, I would say they got to the fire within a few minutes which really does fill you with confidence in the emergency services."
