CCTV images have been released by police after a man was "violently" assaulted at a bar in Bury town centre.

The 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his head and face, officers said.

He later required surgery but police said he is now recovering.

The man was assaulted by three men, in what officers describe as an "unprovoked" incident.

The assault occurred at a bar in Silver Street at about 2.30am on Sunday November 24, but an appeal has only now been issued by Greater Manchester Police.

Detectives who are investigating the assault have shared CCTV stills of two men they want to speak to.

Detective Constable Robert Leacy of the Bury District said: “This was a violent and unprovoked incident which left an innocent young man in hospital with serious injuries. The victim has had surgery and is now recovering. Our thoughts are with him and his family as we continue our investigations.

“I understand that this offence happened a while ago but our officers have been following every line of enquiry and analysed several CCTV opportunities. As a result, we have been able to release these images in the hope of talking to the two men in these photos.

“If you recognise these men or have any information that could help with our investigations please contact police.”

No arrests have been made and police enquires are ongoing.
