Police have released images of two men they want to speak to, after a man was left needing surgery following a brutal attack.

At around 2.30am on Sunday November 24, a 22-year-old man was assaulted by three men at a bar on Silver Street in Bury.

The man suffered serious injuries to his head and face, which later required surgery.

An investigation was launched into the assault but no arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing.

On Monday, police released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in relation to the incident.

Detective Constable Robert Leacy of the Bury District said: "This was a violent and unprovoked incident which left an innocent young man in hospital with serious injuries.

"The victim has had surgery and is now recovering.

"Our thoughts are with him and his family as we continue our investigations.

"I understand that this offence happened a while ago but our officers have been following every line of enquiry and analysed several CCTV opportunities.

"As a result, we have been able to release these images in the hope of talking to the two men in these photos.

"If you recognise these men or have any information that could help with our investigations please contact police."
