THE 39 members of the St Leonard’s Primary School were are all eagerly awaiting their debut before the TV cameras back in November 1979.
For the Langho school had been invited by the BBC to represent Lancashire primary schools in their programme A Grand Sing, which was presented by Brian Trueman.
Headmaster Eric Scott said: “We are keeping the songs secret because the element of surprise will increase the effectiveness of the performance."
He added that the choir was normally 52-strong with complement of 20 recorder players but because of the size of the studio in Manchester where they would record it meant they had to reduce it.
The choir, comprising children from junior classes aged seven to 11, had been rehearsing for around six weeks during their breaks and lunchtimes.
