A 12-YEAR-OLD girl has suffered serious injuries after a crash in Ramsbottom.

Paramedics were called to a two-vehicle crash at the Peel Brow and Whalley Road junction this morning.

Two cars had collided, with one ending up on the pavement.

Three people are understood to have been in the vehicles at the time.

A 12-year-old girl has been taken to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "We were called to a two-vehicel collision shortly before 8.30am.

"We sent two ambulances to the scene.

"We have taken one patient with serious injuries to hospital."

Residents reported on the What's on in Ramsbottom Facebook page that a "terrible accident" had happened outside the Eagle and Child pub.

Bus operator Rosso said that a road closure was put in place in Peel Brow. The company had to divert its services, and was unable to stop between the Rostron Arms in Edenfield and Ramsbottom.

In an update at about 9.45am, Rosso said there were delays of about 20 minutes on its Red Express service.
