A ROAD has been closed after a van hit a bridge on the A679.
Motorists are being warned to avoid the area after the incident on the northbound carriageway of the A56 Accrington Bypass at Huncoat.
It is currently affecting traffic heading from the Rising Bridge roundabout at Haslingden towards the M65.
A56 Northbound is currently closed while we deal with an RTC. There is a diversion at Huncoat which will allow you to re-join the carriageway. One very lucky driver who wasn't injured. #T1TacOps #MN11 #MN21 pic.twitter.com/VO6LNCpGeJ

Due to a bridge being struck by a vehicle there is a closure within the northbound side of the junction #A56 and #A679 #Huncoat. Congestion is building on the approach. Traffic is being taken off at the junction to rejoin the other side of the roundabout @LancsRoadPolice pic.twitter.com/DSfm8GjoOk
