AN OXFORD MP has urged the public to 'calm down' about coronavirus.
Layla Moran spoke in parliament yesterday and said 'we must condemn' those who are pointing the finger at Asian people.
The Oxford West and Abingdon MP spoke after the health secretary Matt Hancock updated MPs on the coronavirus outbreak.
He made the statement to the House of Commons after Prime Minister's Questions.
Mr Hancock, updating MPs, said 7,132 people in the UK have been tested for the virus.

Of these, 13 have tested positive, and eight have since been discharged from hospital.
He said: "We have a clear, four-part plan to respond to the outbreak of the disease: contain, delay, research and mitigate" adding that it was 'important' not to overreact in response to the Covid-19 virus.
Ms Moran then spoke and praised the NHS 111 hotline, which is now 'in effect' the frontline service for all coronavirus outbreaks.
"Would he join me in condemning those who are hurling racist abuse at some British Asians both in Oxford and elsewhere because of worry that you can racially profile those who may have this? And that is not acceptable and we need to all calm down."
