A PRESTWICH man is set to appear before a crown court judge after being charged with 48 child sex and indecent images offences.

Daniel Paul Berry, 31, of Bannerman Avenue, made a brief appearance before Manchester and Salford magistrates, in connection with the allegations, last Saturday.

Berry is accused of 35 offences of sexual activity with a child, on dates in 2018 and 2019.

He is further charged with five counts of distributing indecent images, between July 2018 and January 2019.

Berry must also answer charges of making 1,329 indecent images at category A, the most serious classification, 971 images at category B and 2,832 images at category C, on dates between November 2012 and August 2018.

He is also accused of possessing 23 extreme pornographic images 'portraying in an explicit and realistic way an act which threatened a person's life', between February 2017 and January 2019.

No pleas were indicated and Berry was sent for trial to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

He will appear in the dock there on April 3 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
