A MAN who used threatening behaviour towards a woman in Radcliffe has been electronically tagged and made subject to a 10pm to 7am curfew for eight weeks. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Martin McDonagh, aged 49 , of St John’s Court, New Road, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on October 15 last year.

McDonagh was ordered to pay £50 in compensation to his victim, participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and have treatment for alcohol addiction.

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for 17 months. Francis Brady, aged 28, of Croft Acres, Ramsbottom, had drunk almost double the legal limit of alcohol when the Ford Mondeo he was driving on Walmersley Road, Bury, was stopped by police on March 8. Brady pleaded guilty to committing the offence when he appeared before Manchester magistrates.

In addition to the driving ban, he was fined £420 and ordered to pay £127 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have banned a man from driving for 12 months after he was caught drink driving in a Peugeot 306 on Valley Park Road, Prestwich, on March 12. Melvyn Leker, aged 58, of Thorp Street, Whitefield, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

He was also fined £346 and ordered to pay £119 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months after he visited premises asking for money in breach of a criminal behaviour order. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Marlon Prescod-Brown, aged 31, of Powell Street, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences.

The court heard that he ignored the ban and visited Tesco Express, Alder Close, Rachel Alex hairdressers and the Wellington pub.

A MAN who breached a restraining order to go to a property in George Road, Ramsbottom and threaten a man has been jailed for 12 weeks. Martin Flatley, aged 22, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and also damaging a garden gate on March 16.

Manchester magistrates heard that Flatley has a “flagrant disregard for court orders”.

In addition to the jail sentence, he was ordered to pay £207 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have banned a motorist from the roads for 12 months after he was caught drink driving at Woodfield Retail Park, Bury on March 1. The court heard that Lee Layton, aged 35, of West Drive, Bury, had drunk almost double the legal alcohol limit when he drove a Peugeot 508.

Layton pleaded guilty to committing the offence and was also fined £527 plus £137 in costs and charges.
