Two more people have died in Bolton after contracting coronavirus.

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust confirmed the two new deaths earlier today.

A spokesman for the Trust said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a man who was being cared for at Royal Bolton Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

“The patient was in his early 60s and had underlying health conditions.

“A second patient who had also tested positive for COVID-19 has died.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with their families at this difficult and distressing time.”

The gender of the second patient, or their age, is not yet known.

Yesterday, hospital bosses announced the first coronavirus death in the borough.

The man, who was in his 70s, was also being treated at the hospital, and had pre-existing health conditions.

Overnight, 83 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus.

A total of 422 people have now died in the UK.
