A THIEF who burgled the Holiday Inn in Higher Bridge Street, Bolton, has been given a chance to stay out of prison.
Lee Jackson, aged 49, of Kingthorpe Gardens, Bolton, was described as a “professional thief” when he appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court with an “appalling” previous record of 120 offences.
Jackson pleaded guilty to trespassing with intent to steal and was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years.
He was told: “There is very little evidence that you have turned your life around and you have simply continued to offend.
“You forced entry to the premises knowing full well that it was occupied by a member of staff.
“There is every sign you will continue to offend. However, you have kept away from acquisitive crime for three years and appear to be taking steps to address your offending behaviour.
“This sentence will encourage you to take those steps because, if you offend again, this sentence will be implemented."
Jackson was ordered to pay £207 in costs and charges.
