COME with us on another trip down memory lane as we take a look at a selection of pictures from April 1970.
Some of the images show youngsters enjoying a football tournament at Southampton Sports Centre while on their Easter break. Large crowds gathered to watch the action from the grass banks at the side playing field.
Another set of photographs were taken at the Canine Association dog show. Proud owners posed alongside their pretty pooches, each of them hopeful to pick up a prize.
While the events depicted were taking place, this is what was unfolding nationally:
April 10
A big day for music. Beatles fans were left saddened and shocked after the announcement that Paul McCartney was to leave the band. That same day Elton John released his second album, Elton John.
April 18
British Leyland announced the production of the Morris Minor would be discontinued at the beginning of the following year.
April 29
Chelsea defeated Leeds United 2-1 at Old Trafford in the FA Cup final replay. It was the very first time they lifted the trophy.
