A YOUNG driver who fled from police in a stolen car in the early hours has been jailed for 30 weeks.

Kai Hart, 21, was behind the wheel of a Peugeot 308 last Saturday, Manchester magistrates heard.

Hart, of Kingswood Road, Prestwich, was then seen driving the car, which had been stolen in the Bury area, along Butterstile Lane, Sandy Lane, the A56 Bury New Road, parts of the M60 and M66, the A56 Manchester Road and the A56 Haslingden bypass before he was detained.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified.

Magistrates also banned him from driving for two years and 91 days, as well as ordering him to pay £85 court costs and a £125 victim surcharge.
