AN inquest has opened into the death of a 31-year-old Bury man.
Karl Murphy died at his home on Mossfield Close, Bury, on December 29, 2019.
Mr Murphy worked as a groundworker and was single at the time of his death.
At Rochdale Coroner's Court, police coroner's officer, Jane Scullion, said concerned friends had entered Mr Murphy's home using a key and discovered him face down on his bed dressed only in boxer shorts.
He had suffered a facial injury and paramedics contacted the police.
A post mortem examination has been carried out and the cause of death was given as acute alcohol toxicity.
Coroner Catherine McKenna said she was satisfied that an inquest was required and set July 8, 2020 for a review date.
Ms McKenna said enquiries needed to be carried out to see if Mr Murphy was known to drug and alcohol services with a date for the full inquest set to be announced at a later date.
