AN inquest has opened in to the death of a Radcliffe woman.

Bolton-born Linda Christine Hughes, of Glenvale Close, Radcliffe, died on December 28, 2019 at Fairfield Hospital in Bury.

Ms Hughes, 51, was disabled and unable to work. She was a divorcee.

At Rochdale Coroner's Court, police coroner's officer Jane Scullion, said Ms Hughes was found unresponsive on the sofa by her son at her home address and was taken by ambulance to Fairfield Hospital in cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead on arrival.

Ms Scullion said Ms Hughes' family have concerns about the misuse of prescribed medication she was taking.

A post mortem examination gave the cause of death as "mixed drug toxicity" and coroner Catherine McKenna said in those circumstances an inquest was required.

Ms McKenna said mental health services and the drugs team should be contacted.

The inquest was opened and adjourned until October 1.
