A COMMUNITY hub set up to help the borough's most vulnerable residents is appealing for volunteers to lend a hand.
Whitefield Hub is urging people to join them in assisting those in need during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The centre is one of five hubs set up across Bury and is based at the Children's Centre in Ribble Drive.
James Turrell, a customer engagement coordinator at Bury Council, who has been assigned to support the Whitefield Hub, said: "We desperately need volunteers to join our team.
"We are looking for anyone who can spare two hours per week and can: staff the distribution centre, collect and do shopping, pack parcels, and do general admin."
One of the key areas where volunteers will be helping out is with food shopping and delivering items to residents who are self-isolating or who have difficulties leaving their homes.
These deliveries will be across the Whitefield and Unsworth areas.
To volunteer for these duties you must have a valid DBS check.
However, those without a DBS can still help out at the hub in other capacities.
