POLICE are investigating after a cannabis farm was discovered yesterday in Prestwich.
Greater Manchester Police officers discovered the farm in the Downham area and dismantled the farm, with enquiries currently ongoing.
GMP are currently seeking those responsible for the farm, which included dozens of potted cannabis plants.
Powerful lights and other paraphernalia used to cultivate the drugs were found at the scene.
Drugs offences in England and Wales rose by 27 per cent during lockdown despite total recorded crime dropping by a quarter, figures recently published suggested.
Data obtained by the PA news agency under Freedom of Information laws showed that thousands more crimes linked to banned substances were recorded by police between March 23 and May 25 than in the same nine-week period last year.
There was also a rise of 11 per cent compared with the number of recorded offences between January 20 and March 23 this year.
If you have any information about the Prestwich cannabis farm, contact police on 101 or anonymous charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
